The local System of Care Project in Forest and Warren Counties is encouraging you to participate in the 2018 Mental Health Awareness Month activities. These will be running throughout the month of May in each school and throughout our communities. There will be both poster and writing contests, as described below. Please identify your poster and/or writing submission with your initials and homeroom teacher on the back. Yes, you can submit a piece into each drawing! Please do not put your name on either submission.
Each school will have a drop box for submissions in the Main Office with the Mental Health Awareness Month Logo on it.
Your posters should express your feelings and experience with mental health in your life or the life of someone you are close to. They are to be a rendition of your feelings and any artistic creation that you choose. These can include but are not limited to: drawings, paintings, 3-D objects made out of paper that will fit into the submission box, etc.
The Poster Contest will have random lottery drawings in which the winners will receive a $50 gift card. The drawings will be broken down into the following categories: Pre-school; K-5; 6-8; and 9-12.
Your written piece should be in your words and identify how you have experienced mental health. The doors are wide open, but please do not use profanity and attempt to make your destination positive. The idea is that we all help each other and if you need help, ask for it! Be creative and tell us a fictional story or an autobiography. We will read every piece and they will not be judged on style or grammar, so make it fun and creative if you choose to do so.
The Writing Contest will have random lottery drawings in which the winners will receive a $50 gift card. The drawings will be broken down into the following categories: K-5; 6-8; and 9-12.
The last date of submission for all contestants in each category will be May 18th at 3pm.
We encourage all students to use #growingstrongtogether throughout the month to support Mental Health Awareness and unity within your family, friends, and community.
